Read Me

The Read Me Editor window is used to set the 'Read Me' text for an installer application. The Read Me Editor is opened from the Script:Read Me Text menu option.
An installer's 'Read Me' text is displayed whenever the user clicks the Read Me button in the main installer window. It may optionally be displayed when the installer starts up, based on a setting in the Appearance Options window.
The Read Me Editor window contains the following items:
- Read Me Text
- This field contains the styled text that will be used for your installer's Read Me. You may style your Read Me text using options in the Font, Size, and Style menus installed each time the Read Me Editor window opens.
- Paste
- This button pastes text and style information from the Clipboard into the Read Me text field. This text is pasted at the current cursor location. The pasted text replaces any text that is selected.
- Clear
- This button empties the Read Me text field. This change is not made in the script document until the Change button is clicked.
If an installer's Read Me text is empty, the main installer window will not have a Read Me button.
- Import...
- This button allows you to import your Read Me text from a plain text or styled text file. You cannot import word processing documents without first saving them in text format. If you wish to import styled text, you must create your Read Me file in an application that supports standard styled text, like Apple's SimpleText.
Once text is imported into the Read Me Editor, there is no link between the text in the Read Me field and the text in the file. Changes made in the Read Me field are not reflected in the text file, and vice versa.
- Change
- This button closes this window, saving any changes.
- Cancel
- This button closes this window, canceling any changes.
